Prescriptions

There are several ways to get affordable prescription drugs in Whatcom County.

$4 Lists
Some large retailers offer certain generic prescription drugs for $4 for a 30-day supply, and $10 for a 90-day supply. In Whatcom County, $4 generic prescriptions are available at Fred Meyer, Target, and Wal-Mart.

Washington State Prescription Drug Program (WPDP)
The State of Washington offers assistance through the Washington State Prescription Drug Program (WPDP). Registration for the program is free and can be completed online.

After registering, you will get a WPDP card which you can use to get discounts at participating pharmacies. Discounts vary depending on the drug.

In Whatcom County participating pharmacies include Cost Cutter, Fairway Drug, Fred Meyer, Haggen, Target, Valley Drug, and Wal-Mart. You can also obtain prescriptions through preferred mail order pharmacies.

Patient Assistance Programs
Pharmaceutical companies have prescription drug assistance programs which offer drugs at low or no cost to eligible patients. To search for an assistance program for a specific drug, go to NeedyMeds.
