ACO-W is an effort by WAHA, in conjunction with other community partners, to address the problem of rising health care costs combined with relatively poor outcomes for those expenditures. Unique times and circumstances demand bold action and WAHA is excited to be the spark to ignite this particular far-reaching change.
The purpose of the ACO-W Project is to:
- Improve awareness of and understanding of the ACO concept generally and in key constituencies;
- Foster dialogue needed to design and plan key elements of a local ACO;
- Identify what opportunities an ACO could offer to reduce the cost of health care coverage for the benefit of consumers, employers and the community as a whole;
- Determine whether the community and key constituencies wish to proceed from planning to implementation of a local ACO.
