The Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting access to healthcare services for all members of our community. Composed of a wide range of partners including leaders from the nonprofit, business and governmental sectors, as well as many local health care organizations, we are dedicated to solving community healthcare problems.

WAHA is focused on the following local solutions:

  • Providing client services for people wanting information and assistance about health insurance and accessing health care in Whatcom County.
  • Recruiting much-needed physicians to the area and retaining the doctors already serving Whatcom County.
  • Providing information for decision makers and the community about sound healthcare policies.

WAHA Client Stories highlighted by Children's Alliance

Kids in Bellingham like Cali and Keira and Noah are getting the comprehensive health coverage they need. Their stories are part of the Children's Alliance's online storybook: "Every Child by 2010: Fulfilling Washington State's Promise to Cover All Kids." The Storybook is just one of the many facets of the Children's Alliance's Child Health campaign.  If you would like to receive periodic updates or a digest of media coverage on child health issues, Join the Children's Action Network where you can also take action to improve the health and lives of children.

State Brings Children's Medical Bus Tour to Bellingham KidsFest

Local and state officials visited Bellingham to introduce Apple Health for Kids. Staff from WAHA, SHIBA and local DSHS provided families information on the new program and other coverage options for children and families. WAHA Receives Gift from Unity Group

The Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access was recently selected to receive a donation of $3,000 from the Unity Group of Bellingham. These funds were distributed as a part of Regence BlueShield's Ovation Broker Bonus Program and will be used for children's healthcare outreach.
