2008 Priority

Provide local data to support of Community Health Networks of Washington Proposal to expand funding for health provider loan repayment program by $3 million in the supplemental budget

  • Request would effectively double the loan repayment budget from $3 – 6 million in final year of the biennium.
  • In 2006, the $3 million budget funded 61 loan repayment awards and 51 scholarships
  • Whatcom County 2006/07 award process: 9 site applications were filed with the state (7 were from FCN practices), 3 were approved sites. 0 grants were awarded (due to low scores or the site did not submit an application)
  • Whatcom County 2007/ 2008 award process: 24 site applications were submitted (4 from FCN, 2 from SeaMar, 16 from Interfaith), 20 were approved. Provider applications are due end of 2/08 (1st cycle) and end of 7/08 (2nd cycle). Notice of awards would a month or so after the provider application deadline.
