Legislative Impacts

During the 2005 Legislative session, a budget proviso called for a study to review approaches to providing incentives for private physicians to maintain involvement in the community safety net care.  Included in this approach considering the cost and impact of B & O Tax Credits for physician practices that provide services Medicare, Medicaid, or uninsured patients. 

2008 Priority

Preserve private practice involvement in Safety Net Care

  • Reintroduce HB 1945 bill to extend B&O Tax credits to physicians for revenue from seeing Medicare, Medicaid and uninsured patients. Technical amendments are being made to the bill to include Physician Assistants and ARNP’s. Fiscal impact is estimated at $22 million.
