WAHA Access Counselors provide free and confidential information to help you find ways to get, keep, and use health care coverage and get health care. Feel free to tell us about your needs and situation and we will do our best to locate possible option(s) for you. This may include:

  • purchasing insurance
  • applying for assistance programs
  • using community clinics and sliding-fee scale providers
  • accessing donated care
  • finding primary care providers
  • coordinating certain aspects of your care

WAHA does not sell insurance or profit in any way from providing this information; therefore our services are completely unbiased. Our services are available to Whatcom County residents only.

Is there an insurance plan that I qualify for AND that I can afford?

The Access Counselors at WAHA will help you identify all your options for insurance and costs.  In addition, we will screen for any possible State or Federal programs that may assist you  to access health insurance.  (Please also check back in with us in the fall of 2014 as there will be many more options under the Affordable Care Act).

Is there help to pay for my medical expenses?

Everyone’s situation is unique. WAHA does not have a fund to pay your bills.  However, WAHA staff are happy to help identify any available programs or options to help with past or future medical expenses.  We can also help you apply for programs you may be eligible for.

I need health care but can’t afford it. Can you help?

WAHA staff will help you explore options for getting health insurance, using community clinics, sliding scale fee providers, and other creative options to help you access the care you need.

I can’t afford my medications, can you help?

Do you sell insurance?

WAHA does not sell insurance.  Our information is unbiased and we do not get any payment for helping you.

Can I make an appointment to see a provider at your office?

WAHA does not provide medical care.  We are happy to talk with you about finding a provider in our community.

Do you have a fund or money to pay my medical bills and prescriptions costs?

WAHA does not have any funds to pay bills.  We will help you to identify all your options and to apply for programs that may be able to help you.
