Overview
WAHA's services are available to anyone who lives in Whatcom County and would like assistance finding insurance and healthcare. Our well-trained volunteers and experienced staff can help you navigate the healthcare system by providing the following services:
- Insurance Counseling is provided for free in the form of in-person or over the phone assistance to get, keep, and use healthcare coverage. WAHA staff can also help patients find a physician and access other community resources.

Whatcom Project Access is a program with the Whatcom County Medical Society that makes specialty care available to eligible uninsured patients.
- Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) HelpLine is a statewide network of trained volunteers who educate, assist and advocate for consumers about their rights and options regarding health insurance and healthcare access. A free counseling service of the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner, the Whatcom SHIBA HelpLine is sponsored by WAHA.
- Insurance Tools provide answers to questions like “Do I qualify for State Basic Health coverage?” and “How do I read my medical coupon?” Printable health insurance applications are also available.
