WAHA hosts Whatcom Project Access (WPA), a community program where doctors, dentists, the hospital and supporting service providers donate specialty care to uninsured, low income people in Whatcom County. WPA is not a medical insurance and is meant to be utilized as a short term option for those who have no other way to access medically necessary care. This initiative is a partnership between the Whatcom County Medical Society and the Mt Baker District Dental Society.

- people with limited income and assets (below 200% Federal Poverty Level)
- people referred to a specialist by their Primary Care Provider or an Emergency Department Physician.
Q: How do I sign up for the program?
A: To get started, you will need to have your doctor’s office fax us a referral for specialty care at (360-788-6587). When we receive your referral, a WAHA Access Counselor will call you to see if you qualify. If you are eligible, an Access Counselor will help you complete an application.

A: When your application is approved, you will meet with the Care Coordinator who will explain how the program works. After your enrollment, the Care Coordinator will contact the next available donating specialist and schedule an appointment for you.
Q: How does the program help?
A: Whatcom Project Access (WPA) will help connect you with medically necessary specialty care, imaging, labs and support services at no cost to you.
